Fresno Regional Foundation Scholarship Opportunity
For members of The Fresno Bee’s 25 Year Club honoring James B. McClatchy
Fresno, CA – The Fresno Regional Foundation has announced a scholarship opportunity for members of The Fresno Bee’s 25 Year Club honoring James B. McClatchy, a fourth-generation family owner of the McClatchy Company, which publishes The Bee.
The scholarships will be at least $1,000 each and will be awarded annually to members of the 25 Year Club and their immediate family members. Up to $10,000 in scholarships could be awarded each year.
The scholarship was established at the wishes of the estate of James B. McClatchy, the son of Carlos McClatchy who founded The Fresno Bee. Mr. McClatchy had the foresight to establish an endowed fund with the Foundation intended to benefit current and retired employees who have at least 25 years of service with The Fresno Bee.
Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of the applicant’s academic achievement, work experience, participation in school and community activities, honors, statement of educational goals, and letters of recommendation.
The deadline to submit an application is March 1, 2010. All applications will be reviewed by a scholarship committee, which will make final award determinations by April 30, 2010.
